My name is Cheryl. Today I turned 55. One year from now I will retire from Corporate America. This is my journey.
This will be a journey of self-discovery as well as a journey into the adventures that await me as a retiree. What will I do? What do I need to do now, while I’m still working, to prepare? And of course, will I drive my husband crazy?
This is a practical journey. I have a year to get ready. I have a year to plan. I have a year to scope out the resources I will want to take advantage of.
This is not a financial journey. I’m not here to describe how we plan to fund our retirement. Many others, better versed in financial planning, have that space covered. I will, however, identify any expenses that we hadn’t thought of as we did our version of financial retirement planning, and track them over the year.
